On or about Sunday, October 24th, 2021, around 3:30 in the morning, an accident between a tractor-trailer and a box truck left two people dead and injured a third. Deputies from the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office said the accident was reported along the northbound side of Interstate 71 in Congress Township, Ohio.

Police said Nicholas Paul Holmes and Christopher Ryan Fox were killed when the box truck they were riding in allegedly struck the back of a disabled tractor-trailer on the northbound shoulder of Interstate 71. The driver of the box truck sustained unspecified injuries, while two Fox and Holmes were pronounced dead of their injuries a short time after the crash. The driver of the tractor-trailer was unhurt in the collision.

According to Google Maps, Interstate 71 runs north and south through Congress Township, which is about 37 miles west of Akron.

Police are still investigating the factors that may have contributed to the accident.
