Details:
On or about Friday, February 4th, 2022, around 9:30 at night, an accident between a passenger vehicle and two pedestrians left a woman and child dead. Department of Public Safety representatives said the accident was reported along Highway 84 near County Road 1500 just outside Shallowater in Lubbock County, Texas.
Law enforcement spokespeople said 24-year-old Nikee Danielle Neel and an as-of-yet unidentified 6-year-old boy were killed when they were allegedly struck by a van driven by David Scott Shults as they may have been walking away from the scene of a previous single-vehicle car accident. Emergency responders pronounced Neel and the 6-year-old child dead of their injuries a short time after the accident.
According to Google Maps, the scene of the accident is about 11 miles northwest of downtown Lubbock.
Police are still working to determine all the factors that may have contributed to the accident.
