Details:
On or about Sunday, December 19th, 2021, around 3:00 in the morning, an accident between a pedestrian and a passenger vehicle claimed the life of a 29-year-old woman. Officials from the area said the accident was reported along Breedlove Road near the intersection with Montezuma Road in Harlingen, Texas.
Investigators from the HPD said 29-year-old Nilda Marie Garcia was killed when she was allegedly hit by a passing vehicle as she was walking alongside or made an attempt to cross the lanes of traffic on Breedlove Road. After the initial accident the offending vehicle fled the scene of the accident. Emergency responders pronounced Garcia dead of her injuries after the incident, but it is not immediately clear if she died at the scene or after being rushed to a nearby hospital.
According to Google Maps, Harlingen sits near the border with Mexico, about 252 miles south of San Antonio.
Authorities are still trying to track down the offending driver.
