Details:
On or about Saturday, April 2nd, 2022, a major accident with an alleged drunk driver left a police officer dead. Spokespeople from the Department of Public Safety said the accident was reported along Beltway 8 near the exchange with Fondren Road in Houston, Texas.
Deputies from the Harris County Sheriff’s Department said Jennifer Chavis was killed when the police patrol vehicle she was in was allegedly hit by an accused drunk driver in a heavy-duty pickup truck. Emergency responders pronounced Chavis dead of her injuries a short time after the collision.
The driver of the pickup truck has since been charged with intoxication manslaughter of a peace officer in connection with the accident.
