On or about Sunday, March 20th, 2022, sometime after 2:00 in the morning, a serious accident with a police patrol vehicle sent a police officer to the hospital. Local law enforcement spokespeople said the accident was reported along Highway 59 near the exchange with Highway 90 Alternate in Sugar Land, Texas.
Officers from the area said Officer Ruben Munoz was injured when a pickup truck allegedly slammed into his police patrol vehicle as he was tending to the scene of a previous single-vehicle accident along Highway 59. Paramedics rushed Munoz to the hospital for treatment of serious injuries stemming from the accident.
According to Google Maps, the scene of the accident is about 20 miles southwest of downtown Houston.
Officials are still investigating the accident.
