On or about Thursday, December 17th, 2020, a single-vehicle tractor-trailer accident left a 35-year-old man from Riverside, Florida dead. State Police said the accident happened along the New York State Thruway in Canastota, New York.
Troopers from the New York State Police said 35-year-old Olamilekan Ibikunle was killed when his tractor-trailer allegedly veered into the median and rolled when it hit a bridge pillar. Ibikunle was pronounced dead of his injuries at the scene of the accident. Officials said he was alone in the truck at the time of the accident, and no other vehicles were mentioned in the preliminary statement.
Google Maps shows the New York State Thruway runs east and west through the northern part of Canastota, which is located about 25 miles west of Syracuse.
Police expect to release the findings of their investigation at a later date.
