On or about Saturday, February 5th, 2022, around 7:26 in the evening, a hit-and-run accident between a cyclist and a dump truck sent one individual to the hospital. Law enforcement spokespeople from the area said the accident was reported at the intersection of State Highway 53 and Brownlee Mountain Road in Plainville, Georgia.
Troopers from the Georgia State Patrol said one as-of-yet unidentified cyclist was injured when he was allegedly hit by a dump truck while he was riding his bike at or near the intersection of Highway 53 and Brownlee Mountain Road. After the initial collision with the cyclist, the dump truck fled the scene. Paramedics rushed the cyclist to a nearby hospital where he was being treated for injuries of an unspecified nature or severity.
According to Google Maps, Plainville is about 67 miles northwest of downtown Atlanta.
Authorities are still trying to track down the driver and truck that fled the scene.
