One Injured in Dump Truck Hit-and-Run on Pocahontas Trail in James City County

On or about February 26th, 2021, around 7:19 in the evening, a hit-and-run accident between a dump truck and a pedestrian left a 31-year-old man hurt. Officials from the VPS said the accident happened in the 8700 block of Pocahontas Trail in James City County, Virginia.

Troopers from the State Police said an as-of-yet unidentified 31-year-old man was injured when he was allegedly struck by a dump truck while he was exiting a WATA bus. Paramedics rushed the victim to a nearby hospital with serious injuries.

The dump truck fled the scene after the accident, but tracked the truck to a repair shop in North Carolina. Officials confirmed the driver of the dump truck had died by suicide.

State and local law enforcement are investigating the incident.
