On or about Thursday, April 28th, 2022, around 12:30 in the morning, a major accident between a passenger vehicle and a police patrol car sent a police officer to the hospital. Representatives from the Travis County Sheriff’s Office said the accident was reported along West Parmer Lane in Austin, Texas.
Spokespeople from the Austin Police Department said one as-of-yet unidentified police officer was injured when the patrol vehicle they were in was allegedly struck from behind by a suspected DWI driver on West Parmer Lane. Paramedics transported the officer to the hospital with injuries of an unspecified nature or severity stemming from the accident.
Police have since arrested the driver of the vehicle on suspicion of DWI in connection with the crash.
According to Google Maps, the scene of the accident is a short distance from Highway 45.
Officials are still investigating.
