On or about Tuesday, October 19th, 2021, around 8:48 in the morning, an accident between a garbage truck and a pedestrian sent a 39-year-old woman to the hospital with serious injuries. Authorities from the NYPD said the accident was reported at or near the intersection of 11th Avenue and 73rd Street in Brooklyn, New York.
Police said an as-of-yet unidentified 39-year-old woman was seriously injured when she was allegedly struck by a garbage truck as she was walking along or made an attempt to cross the street at or near the intersection of 73rd Street and 11th Avenue. Paramedics rushed the woman to Maimonides Medical Center where she was last reported in critical condition by hospital staff.
According to Google Maps, the intersection of 73rd Street and 11th Avenue is situated on the southwest side of Brooklyn.
Police are still working to pin down what happened in the accident.
