Details:
On or about Tuesday, February 22nd, 2022, around 5:00 in the morning, an accident between a garbage truck and a cyclist sent one individual to the hospital. Deputies from the Northumberland County Sheriff’s Office said the accident was reported along Route 61 in Shamokin Township, Pennsylvania.
Representatives from the Pennsylvania State Police said one as-of-yet unidentified cyclist was injured when they were allegedly struck by a garbage truck as they were riding alongside or made an attempt to cross Route 61. Paramedics transported the cyclist to a nearby hospital before they were airlifted to a different hospital with serious injuries. Officials did not mention any other vehicles in their report on the incident.
According to Google Maps, Shamokin Township is about 129 miles northwest of Philadelphia.
