On or about Tuesday, September 7th, 2021, around 7:55 in the morning, an accident between a garbage truck and a cyclist sent one person to the hospital. Deputies from the Butte County Sheriff’s Department said the accident was reported at the intersection of West Sacramento Avenue and Nord Avenue in Chico, California.
Police from the area said one as-of-yet unidentified person was injured when they were allegedly hit by a garbage truck as they were riding their bike at or near the intersection of West Sacramento Avenue and Nord Avenue. Paramedics transported the cyclist to a nearby hospital with serious injuries stemming from the accident. Police did not mention any other vehicles in their initial report on the accident.
According to Google Maps, Chico is about 89 miles north of Sacramento.
Police are still investigating the accident.
