One Injured in Box Truck Accident with Falling Ice in Londonderry

On or about Wednesday, December 9th, 2020, around 1:35 in the afternoon, an accident between a car and an 18-wheeler sent one person to the hospital with head injuries. Police said the accident occurred along Nashua Road near the intersection with Young Road in Londonderry, New Hampshire.

Authorities from the area said one as-of-yet unidentified individual was hurt when a large portion of ice allegedly fell from a westbound box truck and hit their eastbound Honda Accord. The tractor-trailer allegedly left the scene but returned a short time later. Paramedics rushed the victim to the hospital in order to be treated for serious injuries.

New Hampshire State Police issued a reminder of Jessica’s Law following the accident, which states: Whoever upon any way drives a vehicle negligently or causes a vehicle to be driven negligently, as defined in RSA 626:2, II(d), or in a manner that endangers or is likely to endanger any person or property shall be guilty of a violation and shall be fined not less than $250 nor more than $500 for a first offense and not less than $500 nor more than $1,000 for a second or subsequent offense.

The investigation into the accident is still ongoing.
