Details:
On or about Friday, December 4th, 2020, around 1:00 in the morning, an accident between a pedestrian and an 18-wheeler sent a man to the hospital with serious injuries. Officials said the accident happened along the Durham Freeway in Durham, North Carolina.
Deputies from the Sheriff’s Department said an as-of-yet unidentified individual was hurt when they were allegedly hit by an Amazon Prime tractor-trailer. Police believe the victim had exited their car following a previous single-vehicle accident when they were struck. Paramedics rushed the victim to a nearby hospital with serious injuries.
Google Maps shows the Durham Freeway (State Highway 147) cuts through the center of Durham in a north and south direction. Although police did not specify a nearby cross section, the roadway appears to be four lanes through the area, with a concrete barrier and grassy median dividing the directions of traffic.
North Carolina State Police are still investigating the accident.
