On or about Wednesday, June 23rd, 2021, around 3:40 in the afternoon, an accident between a pickup truck and a tractor-trailer sent one person to the hospital. Police officers said the accident was reported along the southbound side of Highway 491 near County Road M in Cortez, Colorado.
Deputies from the Montezuma County Sheriff’s Department said one as-of-yet unidentified person was injured when the pickup truck they were driving allegedly struck the back of a tractor-trailer that had slowed to make a turn. Emergency responders transported the driver of the pickup truck to a nearby hospital with unspecified injuries stemming from the collision.
According to Google Maps, Highway 491 runs north and south along the western edge of Cortez, which is about 380 miles southwest of Denver.
State and local law enforcement agencies assisted at the scene of the accident.
