Details:
On or about Tuesday, October 20th, 2020, around 3:00 in the afternoon, a tractor-trailer accident with two other cars sent one person to the hospital. The accident took place at the intersection of South Maize Road and Highway 42 in Wichita, Kansas.
Wichita Police said that one person was injured when the Jeep Liberty they were in was hit by a tractor-trailer, causing a secondary impact with a car at the intersection of Highway 42 and South Maize Road. One person in the SUV was taken to the hospital where they were reported in critical condition.
The driver of the tractor-trailer and occupants in the other car were not hurt.
Looking at the intersection where the accident took place on Google Streetview shows that Highway 42 is four lanes with a grassy median dividing east and westbound traffic, while South Maize Road is two lanes, with a shared turn lane dividing north and southbound traffic. The intersection is governed by a stoplight.
Investigators are still working to determine exactly what may have led to the accident.
