On or about Friday, September 17th, 2021, around 1:00 in the morning, an accident between a car and a tractor-trailer sent a 25-year-old Griffith woman to the hospital. Investigators said the accident was reported along the ramp leading from Interstate 65 to Interstate 80/94 in Gary, Indiana.
Troopers from the Indiana State Police said an as-of-yet unidentified 25-year-old woman was injured when her car allegedly struck the back of a tractor-trailer that was parked on the ramp leading from the northbound lanes Interstate 65 to westbound Interstate 80/94. Emergency responders rushed her to a nearby hospital before she was flown to a Chicago hospital with serious injuries.
According to Google Maps, Interstate 65 runs north and south, while Interstate 80/94 runs east and west through Gary, which is about 30 miles southeast of downtown Chicago.
State and local law enforcement agencies assisted at the scene.
