Details:
On or about Sunday, May 23rd, 2021, around 6:45 in the morning, an accident between an SUV and a tractor-trailer sent one individual to the hospital. Officials from the OSHP said the accident happened along the westbound side of Interstate 70 in Belmont, Ohio.
Troopers from the Ohio State Highway Patrol said one as-of-yet unidentified person was seriously injured when their SUV was allegedly rear-ended by a tractor-trailer. After the initial collision, the SUV rolled off the side of the interstate and burst into flames. Emergency responders cut the driver free of the wreckage and airlifted them to UPMC Mercy where they were last reported in critical condition.
According to Google Maps, Interstate 70 runs east and west just north of Belmont, which is situated about 150 miles south of Cleveland.
Police are still working to pin down the factors that may have contributed to the accident.
