Details:
On or about Wednesday, December 8th, 2021, sometime in the morning hours, an accident between a tractor-trailer and a pedestrian sent one individual to the hospital. Troopers from the WVHP said the accident was reported along the northbound side of Interstate 79 just outside Elkview in Kanawha County, West Virginia.
Deputies from the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Department said one as-of-yet unidentified individual was injured when they were allegedly struck by a tractor-trailer as they were walking alongside or made an attempt to cross the northbound lanes of I-79. Emergency responders transported the pedestrian to a nearby hospital with injuries of an unspecified nature or severity stemming from the accident.
According to Google Maps, Interstate 79 winds north and south through Kanawha County, which is located roughly 21 miles southeast of Charleston.
Police are still looking into the cause of the accident.
