On or about Tuesday, May 18th, 2021, around 4:20 in the afternoon, an accident between a tractor-trailer and a car sent one man to the hospital with serious injuries. Investigators said the accident was reported on a ramp on Route 78 in Newark, New Jersey.
Authorities from the area said one as-of-yet unidentified 50-year-old man was seriously injurd when his car and a tractor-trailer collided under unspecified circumstances. After the initial collision, the car crashed down a steep embankment just off the pavement. Paramedics transported the driver of the car to the hospital with serious injuries. Officials reported he was responsive at the time of the rescue.
According to Google Maps, Route 78 runs east and west through Newark, with the scene of the accident not far from Route 1/9.
Police are still investigating the cause of the crash.
