On or about Thursday, December 16th, 2021, around 3:15 in the afternoon, a serious hit-and-run accident between a tractor-trailer and a motorcycle sent a 38-year-old man to the hospital. Investigators said the accident was reported along the James Madison Highway near the exchange with Lovers Lane in Warrenton, Virginia.

Spokespeople from the Virginia State Police said one as-of-yet unidentified 38-year-old man on a motorcycle was injured when a tractor-trailer allegedly made an unsafe lane change when it pushed a motorcycle off the side of James Madison Highway. Emergency responders transported the motorcyclist to the hospital with injuries of an unspecified nature or severity. The tractor-trailer fled the scene of the incident.

According to Google Maps, the James Madison Highway (Highway 29) runs north and south into Warrenton, which is about 47 miles southwest of downtown Washington DC.

Officials are still investigating the incident.
