On or about Monday, January 18th, 2021, around 7:30 in the morning, an accident between a school bus and a tractor-trailer sent one student to the hospital. Troopers from the ISP said the accident happened at the intersection of Highway 49 and Burlington Beach Road in Valparaiso, Indiana.
Officials from the area said one student was injured when an 18-wheeler on Highway 49 allegedly ran a red light at the intersection with Burlington Beach Road when it struck a school bus. Paramedics transported one student from the bus to a nearby hospital with unknown injuries. Police did not mention any other injuries stemming from the accident.
According to Google Maps, Valparaiso is located near the border of Illinois, about 56 miles southeast of downtown Chicago.
Authorities are still investigating the crash.
