On or about Tuesday, October 26th, 2021, around 4:49 in the afternoon, an accident between a box truck and a cyclist left a 64-year-old Mount Prospect man dead. Deputies from the Cook County Sheriff’s Office said the accident was reported along Busse Road near the intersection with Commerce Drive in Elk Grove, Illinois.

Law enforcement representatives said one as-of-yet unidentified 64-year-old man was killed when he was allegedly struck by a box truck that was making a left turn as he was riding his bike along Busse Road. Paramedics pronounced the cyclist dead of his injuries at the scene of the accident. Police did not mention any other vehicles in their statement on the accident.

According to Google Maps, the scene of the accident is about 23 miles northwest of downtown Chicago.

Authorities are still examining the factors that may have contributed to the accident.
