Details:
On or about Saturday, October 24th, 2020, around 6:35 in the morning, an accident between a box truck and a GMC Acadia SUV left one person dead. Police said the accident happened in the northbound lanes of the William Earle Berne Beltway (Interstate 77) in Columbia, South Carolina.
State Troopers said that one as-of-yet unidentified individual was killed when the GMC Acadia they were driving was hit by a box truck after being involved in a previous accident. One person in the SUV was pronounced dead following the crash. The driver of the box truck was unhurt.
Examining the roadway where the accident took place shows that the William Earle Berne Beltway is six lanes, with a concrete barrier dividing north and southbound traffic. The area is located in the eastern portion of Columbia.
Investigators expect to release more information as it becomes available.
