Details:
On or about Friday, November 5th, 2021, around 10:00 in the morning, an accident between a pedestrian and a box truck left one individual dead. Troopers from the NYSP said the accident was reported in the 700 block of South Meadow Street in Ithaca, New York.
Authorities said one as-of-yet unidentified individual was killed when they were allegedly struck by a box truck as they were walking alongside or made an attempt to cross South Meadow Street. Paramedics pronounced the pedestrian dead a short time after the accident, but it is not immediately clear if they died at the scene, or if they were taken to a nearby hospital where they succumbed to their injuries later.
According to Google Maps, the town of Ithaca is about 56 miles south of Syracuse.
Police are still investigating.
