On or about Monday, January 3rd, 2022, around 7:30 in the morning, a hit-and-run accident between a box truck and a pedestrian left one individual dead. Deputies from the King County Sheriff’s Department said the accident was reported at the intersection of Pacific Highway South and Kent Des Moines Road in Des Moines, Washington.

Representatives from the Washington State Patrol said one as-of-yet unidentified pedestrian was killed when they were allegedly hit by a turning box truck as they were walking alongside or made an attempt to cross the street at the intersection of Pacific Highway South and Kent Des Moines Road. After the initial accident, the box truck fled the scene. Emergency responders pronounced the pedestrian dead of their injuries at the scene of the accident.

According to Google Maps, the scene of the accident is about 18 miles south of downtown Seattle.

Police are still looking for the box truck and driver.
