On or about Thursday, June 10th, 2021, around 4:30 in the afternoon, an accident between a transit bus and a pedestrian claimed the life of a 67-year-old woman. Law enforcement officials said the accident was reported at the intersection of Haledon Avenue and Belmont Avenue in Haledon, New Jersey.
Deputies from the Passaic County Sheriff’s Department said one as-of-yet unidentified 67-year-old woman was killed when she was allegedly struck by a transit bus that was turning onto Haledon Avenue from Belmont Avenue. Emergency responders rushed the woman to nearby St. Joseph’s University Medical Center where she succumbed to her injuries a short time after her arrival.
According to Google Maps, Haledon is situated about 17 miles north of Newark.
Multiple agencies are assisting in the accident investigation.
