On or about Sunday, January 9th, 2022, around 8:00 at night, an accident between a passenger vehicle and a pedestrian left one individual dead. Deputies from the Harris County Sheriff’s Department said the accident was reported along the southbound side of the East Loop near the exchange with Clinton Road in Houston, Texas.

Authorities from the HPD said one as-of-yet unidentified individual was killed when they were allegedly struck by a passing motorist as they were walking alongside or made an attempt to cross the lanes of traffic on the East Loop. Emergency responders pronounced the pedestrian dead of their injuries a short time after the accident.

According to Google Maps, the exchange of Clinton Road and the East Loop is on the east side of Houston.

Police are still investigating.
