On or about Monday, June 6th, 2022, around 11:40 at night, a major car accident left one woman dead. Representatives from the Department of Public Safety said the accident was reported along Interstate 20 in Van Zandt County, Texas.
Spokespeople from the Texas DPS said one as-of-yet unidentified woman was killed when the vehicle they were in allegedly veered off the side of Interstate 20 and slammed into a tree a short distance off the pavement of I-20. Officials said the vehicle may have been evading a traffic stop in the moments before the crash.
According to Google Maps, the scene of the accident is a short distance west of Canton.
Police are still examining the cause of the accident.
