On or about Tuesday, March 22nd, 2022, around 11:45 in the morning, a serious accident between a pedestrian and a passenger vehicle left a 19-year-old man dead. Deputies from the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Department said the accident was reported along State Highway 142/San Antonio Street in Lockhart, Texas.
Representatives from the Texas Department of Public Safety said an as-of-yet unidentified 19-year-old was killed when they were hit by a vehicle as they were walking alongside State Highway 142/San Antonio Street. Emergency responders pronounced the pedestrian dead a short time after the accident. Officials said the driver of the vehicle may have fallen asleep at the wheel in the moments before the accident.
According to Google Maps, Lockhart is about 70 miles northeast of downtown San Antonio.
Authorities are still investigating the accident.
