On or about Monday, March 14th, 2022, sometime in the early morning hours, a major single-vehicle car accident left one person dead. Deputies from the Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office said the accident was reported along South Bryant Boulevard in San Angelo, Texas.

Authorities from the SAPD said one as-of-yet unidentified individual was killed when the vehicle they were in allegedly drove off the side of South Bryant Boulevard and slammed into the Ben Ficklin Pedestrian bridge structure on the side of the roadway. Emergency responders pronounced one person dead a short time after the accident, but it is not clear if they died at the scene or after they were rushed to a nearby hospital.

According to Google Maps, San Angelo is about 206 miles northwest of downtown Austin.

Police are still working to determine what may have caused the accident.
