On or about Saturday, January 1st, 2022, sometime in the early morning hours, a serious single-vehicle car accident left one individual dead. Spokespeople from the Travis County Sheriff’s Department said the accident was reported near 10511 South Highway 183 near the intersection with Farm-to-Market 1327 in Austin, Texas.
Authorities from the Austin Police Department said one as-of-yet unidentified individual was killed when the car they were driving allegedly drove off the side of South Highway 183 and slammed into a tree a short distance off the pavement. After the initial collision with the tree, the vehicle burst into flames. Emergency responders pronounced the driver of the car dead of their injuries a short time after they responded to the scene of the crash.
According to Google Maps, the intersection of South Highway 183 and Farm-to-Market 1327 is located on the far south side of Austin.
Police are still working to pin down all the factors that may have contributed to the accident.
