On or about Thursday, February 3rd, 2022, around 8:15 at night, an accident between a pedestrian and a pickup truck left a 16-year-old boy dead. Officials from the DPS said the accident was reported along Farm-to-Market 2574 just outside Palestine in Anderson County, Texas.

Authorities from the area said an as-of-yet unidentified 16-year-old boy was killed when he was allegedly struck by a vehicle as he was walking alongside or made an attempt to cross the lanes of Farm-to-Market 2574. Emergency responders pronounced the teen dead of his injuries a short time after they arrived at the scene of the accident. Police identified the driver of the pickup truck as Richard Taylor, who was unhurt in the accident.

According to Google Maps, the scene of the accident is about 10 miles northeast of Palestine, which is roughly 109 miles southeast of downtown Dallas.

State and local law enforcement agencies assisted after the accident.
