On or about Tuesday, March 22nd, 2022, around 10:30 at night, an accident between a cyclist and an alleged drunk driver left one individual dead. Deputies from the Travis County Sheriff’s said the accident was reported at or near the intersection of Basse Road and McCullough Avenue in Austin, Texas.

Officials from the Austin Police Department said one as-of-yet unidentified individual was killed when they were allegedly struck by a vehicle as they were riding their bike near Basse Road and McCullough Avenue. Emergency responders pronounced the cyclist dead of their injuries a short time after the accident.

According to Google Maps, the intersection of Basse Road and McCullough Avenue is on the north side of Austin.

Police have since charged the driver of the vehicle with intoxication manslaughter in connection with the accident.
