Details:
On or about Sunday, November 28th, 2021, a major single-vehicle accident with a suspected drunk driver left a 16-year-old girl dead and sent a 19-year-old to the hospital. Officials from the Harris County Sheriff’s Department said the accident was reported in the 15700 block of Bellaire Boulevard in Houston, Texas.
Law enforcement spokespeople from the area said an as-of-yet unidentified 16-year-old girl was killed when the passenger vehicle she was in allegedly skidded off the side of Bellaire Boulevard when it slammed into a tree a short distance off the pavement. Paramedics rushed the 16-year-old passenger to the hospital where she succumbed to her injuries a short time after her arrival.
Officials identified the driver of the car as 19-year-old Eduardo Barrera, who was taken to the hospital with unspecified injuries after the accident. Barrera currently faces a charge of intoxication manslaughter in connection with the incident.
According to Google Maps, the scene of the accident is on the far west side of Houston.
Police are still investigating the crash.
