On or about Monday, November 29th, 2021, a chain-reaction accident between a dump truck towing a trailer, a pickup truck, and a passenger vehicle left one individual dead. Deputies from the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Department said the accident was reported along Highway 129 near Watsonville, California.

Troopers from the California Highway Patrol said one as-of-yet unidentified individual was killed when a dump truck towing a trailer and a pickup truck allegedly collided, causing the dump truck’s trailer to disconnect and skid into oncoming traffic where it slammed into a car. The driver of the car was pronounced dead of his injuries a short time after emergency responders arrived at the scene of the collision.

According to Google Maps, Highway 129 winds east and west through Watsonville, which is about 87 miles south of downtown San Francisco.

State and local authorities responded to the incident.
