On or about Monday, January 3rd, 2022, around 9:20 in the morning, a serious accident between a dump truck and a pedestrian claimed the life of a 37-year-old woman. Representatives from the FHP said the accident was reported along the northbound side of Interstate 275 in St. Petersburg, Florida.

Authorities said an as-of-yet unidentified 37-year-old woman was killed when she was allegedly struck by a passing dump truck as she was walking alongside or made an attempt to cross the northbound lanes of I-275 near the exchange with 26th Avenue South. Officials said the woman died of her injuries after the incident, but did not clarify if she was pronounced dead at the scene, or if she was rushed to a nearby hospital where she succumbed to her injuries a short time after her arrival.

According to Google Maps, the exchange of Interstate 275 and 26th Avenue South is situated on the south side of St. Petersburg.

Officials are still investigating the accident.
