One Killed in Dump Truck Accident on Interstate 64 in Augusta County

On or about Tuesday, March 30th, 2021, an accident involving a dump truck left one individual dead. Officials from the State Police said the accident was reported along the westbound side of Interstate 64 near the exchange with Interstate 81 in Augusta County, Virginia.
Troopers from the VSP said one as-of-yet unidentified person was killed when a dump truck allegedly crashed under unspecified circumstances. Paramedics pronounced one person dead after the accident, but it is not clear if they died at the scene or if they succumbed to their injuries a short time after being rushed to the hospital.
Interstate 64 cuts north and south through the center of Augusta County, which is about 119 miles northwest of Richmond.
Police are still examining the factors that may have contributed to the accident.
