On or around the evening of Friday, October 2nd, 2020, an 87-year-old man was killed when the Chevrolet Impala he was driving was struck by a dump truck in front of the Richland Plaza in Richland Township, Pennsylvania.
Officers said that the as-of-yet unidentified 87-year-old male driver was killed when a dump truck allegedly drove around a vehicle that had slowed or stopped for a turn on Route 309. The dump truck subsequently struck the victim’s Chevrolet Impala as the car was turning into a shopping center. Police closed both directions of Route 309 in order to investigate the accident.
Police did not elaborate on the timing of the events. Did the truck move too quickly to react to the car ahead? Did the car have the right of way when it turned?
