On or about Thursday, December 16th, 2021, sometime in the evening hours, an accident between a moped and a parked dump truck claimed the life of one individual. Troopers from the SCHP said the accident was reported along West Highway 9 Business near Loris in Horry County, South Carolina.
Investigators said one as-of-yet unidentified individual was killed when the moped they were driving allegedly collided with the back of a parked dump truck along West Highway 9 Business. Emergency responders pronounced the driver of the moped dead a short time after the collision, but it is not immediately clear if they died at the scene or after being rushed to the hospital.
According to Google Maps, the scene of the accident is a short distance from Loris, which is about 117 miles northeast of downtown Charleston.
Authorities are still examining the cause of the incident.
