On or about Friday, October 9th, 2020, around 6:47 in the morning, an accident between a dump truck and a motorcycle left one man dead. The accident happened in the westbound lanes of West State Road 40 near the intersection with Southwest 113th Street in Ocala, Florida.

Florida Highway Patrol troopers said that an unidentified 45-year-old man was killed when the motorcycle he was driving collided with a dump truck that allegedly cut through the median to attempt a U-turn on West SR 40. Paramedics pronounced the motorcyclist dead a short time after they responded to the scene.

The collision resulted in a fuel line break and a diesel spill in the roadway. A look at Google Streetview shows SR 40 as a 4 lane roadway divided by a wide, grassy median.

State Troopers are assisting deputies from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office with the investigation.
