On or about Friday, April 29th, 2022, around 6:11 in the morning, an accident between a scooter and an alleged DWI driver left one individual dead. Representatives from the Travis County Sheriff’s Department said the accident was reported along Seventh Street in Austin, Texas.
Spokespeople from the Austin Police Department said one as-of-yet unidentified individual was killed when they were hit by a vehicle while driving a scooter along Seventh Street. Emergency responders pronounced the driver of the scooter dead after the accident, but police did not specify if the victim died at the scene, or if they were rushed to a nearby hospital where they succumbed to their injuries a short time after their arrival.
Police have since charged the driver of the passenger vehicle with DWI in connection with the accident.
According to Google Maps, the scene of the accident is a short distance from Allen Street in downtown Austin.
Officials are still examining the circumstances that may have contributed to the collision.
