On or about Tuesday, October 12th, 2021, around 7:19 in the evening, an accident between a tractor-trailer, a farm tractor, and a pickup truck claimed the life of a 42-year-old San Jose man. Representatives from the ISP said the accident occurred on Route 136 in Logan County, Illinois.
Deputies from the Logan County Sheriff’s Department said an as-of-yet unidentified 42-year-old man was killed when his pickup truck allegedly struck the towed trailers of a farm tractor driven by John A. Harmsen. After the initial impact, the pickup truck spun into the path of a tractor-trailer driven by Fredrick Eitenmiller. The driver of the pickup truck was pronounced dead a short time after the accident. Harmsen and Eitenmiller were unhurt in the accident.
According to Google Maps, Route 136 runs east and west along the northern edge of Logan County, which is about 173 miles south of downtown Chicago.
Multiple agencies responded to the scene of the accident.
