On or about Thursday, December 17th, 2020, around 9:31 in the morning, an accident between a car and a FedEx truck left one person dead. Troopers from the DPS said the accident happened near the intersection of Highway 21 and FM 50 in Caldwell, Texas.

Authorities said one unidentified person died when their car allegedly lost control after a tire blowout and crossed into the path of a tractor-trailer. The driver of the truck was taken to the hospital with unspecified injuries. The driver of the car died at the scene.

Google Maps shows the scene of the accident happened at the line between Brazos County and Burleson County. Caldwell is about 79 miles northeast of Austin.

Texas DPS and local police are investigating.
