On or about Monday, June 28th, 2021, around 5:54 in the afternoon, an accident between a flatbed tractor-trailer and a U-Haul truck left one individual dead. Troopers from the WVSP said the accident was reported along Highway 35 in Mason County, West Virginia.

Authorities said one as-of-yet unidentified person was killed when a flatbed tractor-trailer allegedly struck a U-Haul truck that may have been attempting a U-turn across Highway 35. Paramedics pronounced one individual dead of their injuries a short time after they responded to the incident. Officials did not specify if the victim was in the tractor-trailer or the U-haul at the time of the collision.

Highway Patrol officials closed the highway for nearly 12 hours in order to tend to the scene of the accident.

State and local law enforcement agencies assisted at the scene of the accident.
