Details:
On or about Tuesday, October 27th, 2020, around 6:13 in the morning, an accident between a car and a trash truck claimed the life of a 30-year-old man from Newark. Authorities said the accident happened on westbound Route 273 near Brownleaf Road in Ogletown, Delaware.
Officers said that an unidentified 30-year-old man was killed when the Infiniti I30 he was driving allegedly struck the rear of a disabled garbage truck. First responders transported the driver of the car to Christiana Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries a short time later. The 33-year-old driver of the garbage truck was uninjured.
Google Streetview shows that Route 273 (Christiana Road) is six lanes wide, with a curbed, grassy median dividing west and eastbound traffic. Ogletown is located about 11 miles southwest of Wilmington.
Delaware State Police are investigating the incident.
