On or about Wednesday, March 10th, 2021, around 7:32 in the morning, an accident between a pedestrian and a garbage truck left a 53-year-old man dead. Deputies from the Sheriff’s Department said the accident happened under the South Main Street overpass on the Highway 120 Bypass in Manteca, California.
Law enforcement sources said one as-of-yet unidentified 53-year-old man was killed when he was allegedly struck by a garbage truck as he was walking near or trying to cross the roadway. Emergency responders pronounced the pedestrian dead of his injuries at the scene of the accident a short time after they arrived.
Google Maps shows Manteca is located roughly 58 miles south of Sacramento.
California Highway Patrol is assisting in the accident investigation.
