On or about Friday, January 21st, 2022, around 8:30 at night, a hit-and-run accident between a passenger vehicle and a pedestrian left one individual dead. Troopers from the Department of Public Safety said one the accident was reported along Interstate 10 just outside Hankamer in Chambers County, Texas.
Texas DPS officials said one as-of-yet unidentified individual was killed when he was allegedly struck by a vehicle while he was tending to the scene of a previous accident with a tractor-trailer. After the initial accident, the vehicle that struck the victim fled the scene. Emergency responders pronounced the pedestrian dead of his injuries a short time after the accident.
According to Google Maps, the scene of the accident is a short distance from Hankamer, which is about 47 miles east of downtown Houston.
