On or about Thursday, December 30th, 2021, in the nighttime hours, a serious hit-and-run accident between a pedestrian and a Cadillac Escalade SUV left one individual dead. Deputies from the Dallas County Sheriff’s Department said the accident was reported along Interstate 45 in Ferris, Texas.

Investigators from the area said one as-of-yet unidentified individual was killed when they were allegedly struck by a Cadillac Escalade as they were walking on the shoulder of I-45. After the initial accident, the SUV allegedly stooped briefly before it fled the scene. Emergency responders pronounced the pedestrian dead a short time after the accident, but it is not immediately clear if they were pronounced dead at the scene of the incident, or if they were rushed to a nearby hospital where they succumbed to their injuries a short time after their arrival.

According to Google Maps, Interstate 45 cuts north and south through the center of Ferris, which is situated roughly 20 miles south of downtown Dallas.

Police are still trying to track down the Cadillac Escalade and the driver.
