On or about Saturday, January 1st, 2022, around 6:30 in the evening, a hit-and-run accident between a pedestrian and a passenger vehicle claimed the life of one woman. Deputies from the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Department said the accident was reported on North Main Street in Fort Worth, Texas.

Officials from the Fort Worth Police Department said one as-of-yet unidentified woman was killed when she was allegedly hit by a passing vehicle as she was walking alongside or made an attempt to cross the lanes of North Main Street. Emergency responders pronounced the pedestrian dead a short time after the accident, but it is not clear if they died at the scene, or if they were rushed to a nearby hospital where they succumbed to their injuries a short time after their arrival.

The vehicle that struck the woman fled the scene of the accident. Police described the vehicle as a Nissan four-door passenger vehicle with serious front-end damage.

Police are still investigating.
